Every year during the 2nd week in April, the world celebrates all of the 911 dispatchers as part of the National Telecommunicators Appreciation Week. I have had the privilege of being a 911 operator for 11 years and counting.
I have grown to really love this job and the shift mates I work with. We are like an extended family. We help each other out. Nothing is a competition with us. Being a 911 operator is a stressful job. We deal with chaos day in and day out. It is good to have such a good group of people that I could also call friends that look out for each other. We celebrate each others successes. We consider ourselves the best shift. Others also agree. We have the best shift comraderie which is apparent by the picture.
